Third Eye Asian filmfest to screen Iranian ‘Children of Heaven’

The 18th Third Eye Asian Film Festival in India is to screen Iran’s ‘Children of Heaven’.

The 18th edition of the Third Eye Asian Film Festival in India has scheduled to screen ‘Children of Heaven’ from Iran.

Produced by Amir and Mohammad Esfandiari and directed by Majid Majidi, the film narrates the story of a family in need.

On his way back from the shoemaker, Ali loses his sister’s shoes. Since they’re from a poor family and are afraid to break the news to their parents, Ali comes up with a plan to share his pair of sneakers with Zahra so that she’ll be able to go to school.

When Ali hears of an upcoming regional cross-country race, with a pair of brand-new sneakers as the third prize, he decides to enter the competition and finish third at all cost.

The cast list of the film includes Reza Naji, Fereshteh Sarabandi, Amir-Farrokh Hashemian, Bahareh Seddiqi, Darioush Mokhtari, Nafiseh Jafar-Mohammadi, Mohammad-Hassan Hosseinian, Mohammad-Hossein Shahidi, Kazem Asgharpour, and Christopher Maleki.

The film was shot in Tehran. It was attempted to keep the filming secret in order to capture a more realistic image of the city. It was distributed by Miramax.

The Third Eye Asian Film Festival is to promote Asian cinema using multi-pronged approach of cultural activities.

The 18th edition of the Third Eye is slated for March 1-6, 2020 in Mumbai, India.

This edition of the Indian event will also review 'First Signature for Raana’ by Ali Zhakan, Abbas Kiarostami’s ‘Where is the Friend’s Home?’, ‘The Sea Swells’ by Amir Gholami, ‘Azar’ by Mohammad Hamzei, ‘Wild Jonquils’ by Rahbar Qanbari, ‘Scandal’ by Masoud Dehnamaki and ‘Golnesa’ by Sattar Chamani-Gol, all from Iran.
